Progress Made

During this time of charettes and public meetings, HOBG has charted some successes. Click Here.

A Vibrant Public Waterfront For Providence

FPNA supports Head of the Bay Gateway Committee, (HOBG), which has advocated an emerging vision for public, maritime-oriented uses for Providence Gateway.

HOBG emphasizes that the Shooters site, with its deepwater port, provides the necessary maritime link to other modes of transportation found at the Head of Narragansett Bay. Converging at this site are Interstate Highway 195; trolley service to other downtown attractions, the Jewelry District and the universities, a connecting pedestrian bridge, the River Walk and a nexus of interstate bike paths.

Most importantly, Gateway would re-establish the Capitol City’s maritime history by re-connecting it to the commerce and tourism waiting on the horizon.
